Alfred State Drama Club presenting 'Alice in Wonderland'
The Alfred State Drama Club will present “Alice in Wonderland” as its spring production. Four performances will be held in the Cappadonia Auditorium from April 10-12.
Alexia Bell, a student in the diagnostic medical sonography program, stars as Alice. This is her fourth show with Drama Club. Anthony Woods, a second-year student in the architectural technology program, co-stars as Chessy, the Cheshire Cat. Anthony currently serves as treasurer for the Drama Club, and this is his fourth production, as well.
“This play is maybe one of my favorite plays of all time. I was actually in it the last time that the Drama Club did it, many years ago. It has been very special for me to be able to bring the play to life from the other side of the stage,” said Director Abby Hurley.
This show is appropriate for all audiences and open to all. Tickets are now on sale at the campus bookstore and can be purchased with cash, card, or CSA. Admission is $5 for students and $10 for general admission. Tickets will also be sold at the door for cash only.
Performances will be at 7 p.m. on April 10, 11, and 12.

Nunda Historical Society presents 'Music Masterpieces in Miniature' April 27
Internationally acclaimed musician and instrument historian Dennis James returns to Nunda on Sunday, April 27 at 2:30 p.m., bringing with him a new installment in his Musica Curiosa series: Music Masterpieces in Miniature, an engaging and entertaining “Informance” exploring the curious world of historical toy and miniature instruments.
A long-time friend and member of the Nunda Historical Society, James has presented several performances in the area over the years. He often uses Nunda as a special place to preview new programs before taking them to audiences across the country — and beyond.
In this latest performance at Trinity Church in Nunda, James will showcase a delightful array of miniature instruments, including the iconic toy piano, Irish lever harp, Scottish Dulcetone, Italian Salterio, and novelty instruments like the Picco Pipe and Marxophone. These small-scale treasures each have a rich backstory — once symbols of wealth and refinement, later adapted for popular and recreational use.
James has been collecting and performing with these rare instruments since 1982. Through his Musica Curiosa Informances — dynamic blends of live performance, storytelling, and historical commentary — he brings the past to life with curiosity, charm and humor.
Born in Philadelphia and educated at Indiana University’s School of Music, Dennis James has performed around the world, from grand American movie palaces to European concert halls. He is especially known for his pioneering work reviving silent film accompaniment on historic instruments.
Music Masterpieces in Miniature promises an afternoon of enchanting discovery for audiences of all ages.
This program is made possible with funds from the Aid to Localities Program through the Genesee Valley Council on the Arts.
Admission is free; donations are welcome. Trinity Church is located at 25 East St. in Nunda.
