Hearst Television Moves To Boost Local News

Hearst Television has expanded its partnership with Uplynk, a cloud-based streaming platform, in a move to boost news distribution.

The goal is to deliver Hearst’s local newscasts across streaming platforms and “meet consumers wherever they’re looking for local news and information,” says Andrew Fitzgerald, senior vice president of streaming video services at Hearst Television and general manager of its Very Local unit.

Hearst Television is augmenting news syndication workflows to ensure that local news, weather, and information reach more audiences across more content delivery platforms, the company says.

In addition, Hearst’s brands can condition streams for ad insertion and automate channels with newscasts directed to multiple distribution points like Tubi and Amazon’s Fire News app.

At present, Hearst Television reaches over 22 million U.S. television households in 28 media markets.

Uplynk is a cloud-based streaming platform that powers video delivery for broadcasters, media companies, and content owners across the globe.
