Apple TV+ just released a new series that boasts a 96% on Rotten Tomatoes, coming in neck-and-neck with Severance.
The first two episodes of The Studio dropped yesterday on the streaming platform, with generally positive feedback from fans, who are calling it 'Curb Your Enthusiasm on Cocaine.'
The series is a satire that follows Seth as Matt Remick, a newly appointed executive at the fictional Continental Studios as he struggles to balance his creative aspirations with his new profit-driven position as studio head. The star-studded cast includes Catherine O'Hara, Kathryn Hahn, and Bryan Cranston, with several A-listers guest starring as themselves.
The latest Apple TV+ series is spearheaded by frequent collaborators Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, who serve as producers, writers, and directors.
The Studio comes at the heels of the wild season 2 finale of Ben Stiller's hit series Severance, which is the number one streamed show on the streaming platform.
Already, viewers are lauding the show for its meta commentary on the filmmaking industry, the insane cameos, and its use of long, cinematic "one shot" scenes.
Legendary director Martin Scorsese, along with actors Steve Buscemi, Paul Dano, and Oscar winner Charlize Theron appear in the first episode as themselves.
One X, formerly Twitter, user writes: "THE STUDIO feels like Curb Your Enthusiasm on cocaine. It's hilariously smart and self-aware, but way sexier and stylish. Another Apple show with killer cinematography and production design. I'm hooked."
Another viewer adds: "The Studio on Apple is simultaneously a perfect satirical snapshot of the movie industry in its current state and a celebration of film in every way. It's Birdman meets Once Upon a Time In Hollywood. You absolutely gotta watch this show."
The show seems to have started off with a bang, with many viewers seeing its potential for critical acclaim in just the first two episodes.
"#TheStudio had one of the best starts to a TV series in history. The Emmys are about to absolutely love this show," one viewer writes, with another echoing: "Episode 2 of The Studio is One of the Best Episodes of TV This Decade"
New episodes of The Studio will be streaming Wednesdays on Apple TV+.
