Tesco issues urgent Clubcard app update – shoppers must act before Monday
Tesco is urging shoppers to update their Clubcard app by March 31 to keep using it in-store
Tesco is urging customers to update their Clubcard app before Monday, March 31, as a major update is set to roll out.
Millions of shoppers still rely on their plastic Clubcards or keyfobs when shopping, but an increasing number have switched to the digital Clubcard app for convenience. With Clubcard prices often significantly lower than standard prices, the app ensures customers never miss out on potential savings, even if they forget to bring their physical card to the store.
However, from March 31, the supermarket giant will be updating its Clubcard app for both Apple and Android users. This means that anyone who has not downloaded the latest version will no longer be able to access their Clubcard through the Tesco Shopping & Clubcard app.
To avoid disruption at the checkout, Tesco is advising all users to update their app before the deadline, Express reported.
In a statement, Tesco reassured customers that the update is being implemented to improve security and data protection.
“To increase your data protection and online security, we're updating our Tesco app to a newer version," the message read. "After 31 March, older versions of the app will no longer work. To keep shopping and enjoying all of your Clubcard benefits on your app, make sure you have the latest version before 31 March.
"This update won't affect anything you do on tesco.com.”
While the update will not impact online shopping via the Tesco website, customers must ensure they have the latest version of the app installed to continue managing their Clubcard and in-store purchases seamlessly.
Updating the app is a simple process.
For Android users, including those with Samsung devices, the latest version can be downloaded from the Google Play Store. iPhone users can update their app via the iOS App Store.
Tesco is encouraging all customers who use the Clubcard app to take action now to avoid any last-minute issues at the checkout.
How does Tesco Clubcard work
Tesco Clubcard members can turn their points into valuable savings, with every 150 points converting into £1.50 in Clubcard vouchers.
These vouchers can be spent directly at Tesco or exchanged for up to double their value with selected Tesco Reward Partners. Popular options include PizzaExpress, Chef & Brewer, Disney+, Denby, easyJet holidays, RAC, Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, and Thorpe Park Resort.
With a wide range of partners, Clubcard members can use their vouchers for dining, entertainment, travel, and more, maximising their savings beyond just grocery shopping.
However, Clubcard vouchers are only valid for two years. Once they expire, they can no longer be used. Tesco encourages customers to keep track of their vouchers to ensure they don’t go to waste. Regularly checking your Clubcard account can help you make the most of your rewards before they run out.
