    Netherlands based company to invest 200 million euros to set up solar panel manufacturing unit in Assam

    BJP led government’s scouting for investment has found takers with a Netherlands based company has expressed willingness to invest close to 200 million euros in setting up manufacturing facility for producing solar panels in Assam.

    Netherlands Ambassador to India Alphonsus Stoelinga along with a business delegations is presently in Assam, the delegation had meeting with Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday.

    Stoelinga said that Hyet Solar, a company working in solar power is keen to invest 200 million euros to set up a plant in the state. The company is targeting to generate 200 MW of solar power in Assam.

    “The company has set up a unit in Netherland manufacturing silicon based solar panels and Assam facility will be the second unit of the company,” Stoelinga said.

    The chief minister also said that Power Department would look at the proposal and would have meeting with the company. The company also offered to tie up with local partners, financial institutions for the purpose.

    Ambassador said that Dutch company Ayursundra BV will set up healthcare facility in Jorhat. This facility which will come up with an investment of 21 million euros will include diagnostic centers and hospital in a hub and spoke arrangement.

    Netherland has offered to work with Assam government in water management and in controlling flood and erosion in river Brahmaputra.

    Sonowal said, “Assam needs Dutch expertise in managing flood and erosion caused by River Brahmaputra and its tributaries in the state,”

    Sonowal said that river dredging is another matter where the state would benefit from Dutch technology and knowhow.

    The chief minister also invited the Dutch Ambassador to set up a consulate office at Guwahati and post an officer here for liaising with the state government and exploring business possibilities which can benefit both Netherlands and Assam.

    Sonowal said that food processing and cold storage management for agricultural products of the state is one key area where Dutch companies can extend their expertise and he invited the Dutch company Kiremko to set up base here for ginger and turmeric trade and make cold storage facilities here. He also offered to provide to suitable land for the purpose.

    The chief minister informed about the government plans to dredge Brahmaputra River from Sadiya to Dhubri and connect the waterways to Chittagong Port at Bangladesh. He also said that Inland Water Navigation Department would look into the prospects of collaborating with the Dutch company for river bank beautification project.

    The chief minister urged Dutch Sports Infrastructure India, a collaborative venture of different sports infrastructure companies of Netherland, to actively support the state government’s initiatives to build world class sports facilities in the state.
