Global technology firm Huawei Technologies launched the new Huawei Y9 2019 mobile device in the Kenyan market on Wednesday.

The new Huawei Y9 2019 device features an upgraded Central Processing Unit (CPU), front and rear dual camera, and the notched Huawei Full View Display.

The phone will be retailing in the Kenyan market for Ksh 24,990 ($248) at all leading consumer electronics retail stores as well as on the Jumia Online retail platform.

The launch of the phone that comes with a new notched 6.5 inch full view display, is part of Huawei’s efforts to push boundaries in the smartphone industry by improving user experience through advanced technology.

"We are delighted to announce the arrival of the Huawei Y9 2019 into this market. We believe that it will be preferred, mainly amongst Kenyan youth due to its favourable price and superior features," Steven Li, Huawei head of Eastern Africa Mobile, said during the phone launch.

He said Huawei Y9 2019 features a stylish look with a sleek silhouette and refined aesthetics.

"Its unique glossy appearance is timeless and youthful, and its latest technology trends offer state of the art gaming, audio-visual and entertainment experiences to the users," he said.

The phone, which has three key superior smart features - battery life of 4000mAh, memory of 64GB in addition to a front and rare dual camera - is available for pre-order from today, which will culminate in a public launch on October 27, 2018, at Two Rivers Mall and Thika Road Mall.

Li said the chic smartphone tailored for consumers shows the perfect integration of high-end technology and style, as it incorporates the latest Kirin 710 octa-core chipset and will allow for faster processing speed.

"At Huawei, we pride ourselves in offering relevant products to our consumer as evidenced in the 2018 report by International Date Cooperation where we surpassed Apple to be the second in global smartphone sales and increased market share," he said.

Consumers are encouraged to pre-order via Jumia by signing up on their site as well as offline in our retail stores. The pre-order comes with an attractive gift hamper that is worth Kshs 8,000 ($79.2).
