Most of new start-ups operate in financial technologies sector in Latvia

Interest in financial technologies (fintech) is large among Latvians start-ups and 70% of the start-ups operate in fintech sector, said Jekaterina Novicka, the board chairwoman of the Latvian Association of Start-ups, cites LETA.
In her words, last year the association had listed 240 start-ups in Latvia,
while after the first nine months of this year the number has risen to 320.
"The number of start-ups is growing very steeply, and 70% of these
companies operate in fintech sector. Interest about fintech sector in Latvia is
huge," she said.
Last September Novicka told LETA
that Latvian start-ups had attracted investments worth about EUR 110 million,
compared to EUR 330 million attracted by Estonian start-ups and EUR 140 million
attracted in Lithuania.
