Digital TV Transition Not So Smooth for Some

Many viewers are still running into complications despite making recommended adjustments for the mandatory digital programming switch.


Press Release Service – Wired PR News – Many viewers are reportedly having issues with transitioning to digital television long after the deadline for the mandatory switch has passed. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), some who have changed their televisions or gotten the recommended converter boxes are still reporting trouble with picking up certain TV stations.


As noted by the AP, the issue is primarily attributed to some stations moving their digital signals to a different frequency band, which has complicated the issue.


FCC spokeswoman Janice Wise has reportedly stated the agency is trying to help stations resolve the unanticipated problems. Hank Volpe, director of engineering at ABC’s Philadelphia based affiliate WVPI, is quoted by the AP as stating of the matter, “People are figuring there’s someone out there to blame for this…Well, there’s nobody to blame.”
